Shadows and Light are captivating audiences with their intimate show on the iconic singer – songwriter Joni Mitchell, recently receiving a standing ovation from a sell-out crowd in the Black Box Theatre, Belfast as part of the Out to Lunch Festival 2015. Their stunning interpretations are played by vocalist Maura Vambeck, Dave Mulligan on guitar and Paul Enright on keyboard.
The show features songs from the huge Joni repertoire, including classics from the landmark ‘Blue’ album, along with some of the lesser known numbers like Hejira, Secret Place and Hissing of Summer Lawns.
Their hypnotic performance of the lyrics and life of Joni is truly special, bringing you Joan Anderson, the poet, artist and mother. If you like Joni, you will love this.
Maura, Dave and Paul have a long musical pedigree – Dave and Paul have been playing together for 25 years, while Maura has been singing with the guys for 5 years both as part of Shadows and Light, and with ‘Red Shoes’, a six-piece pop/funk band based in Dublin.
Dave has a Degree in Jazz Performance from Newpark Music School, Maura has a Masters in Music and is a full-time music teacher and Paul has just completed a Certificate in Music Production for Games and is currently freelance composing. More info on the band’s website and facebook
Not many will forget the sight of a certain world famous rockstar driving though Wicklow in his convertible car hire a few years back. He rented it at the last minute from Dublin Airport taking advantage of some rare Irish sunshine.
